Student Work Opportunities at the Bennett Law Firm

Internship is Secured, but a Seat? That's Tricky
PDF of Article
The Bennett Law Firm is determined to provide a better experience for our interns this summer. We plan to give the interns the level of learning experience we feel they deserve. One that provides maximum educational value, since the internships we offer is unpaid. We rely heavily on a technique called “shadowing.”
An intern will do everything that our lawyers do. They’ll answer phones, but we’ll also provide legal work for them. We will have them write articles for the firm’s monthly newsletters. This will help improve their writing skills and will be a positive experience they can add to their resume. Some of their time will be spent at the local courts with a lawyer, who they can follow like a shadow, until they know all of our attorneys, how we interact with our clients, and our procedure for each stage of the process. Occasionally the intern will get to attend an event that the firm has been invited to. They will learn how to interact with potential clients or give them an opportunity to network themselves.
Here at the BLF we are happy to help teach tomorrow’s lawyers by giving the students a real-world application of what they’re learning. Do not expect to be dropped off at a library spending your time doing research. If you would like to join the BLF team, please send in your resume with a writing sample to:

"The
experiences I've had at Bennett have been more than I ever expected. I
knew I was going into a law firm, but I never imagined I'd learn so
much, or meet and get advice from so many local attorneys and judges.
This opportunity was priceless!"
