This statue of Houston's namesake
actually stands just outside the city and is dedicated to different
community. Though its location is ironic, this statue was built for
Huntsville, TX, a city about 70 miles north of Houston in honor of Sam
Houston's political contribution. Regardless of dedications and
intentions, Houston's statue is seen as a part of the city, and the
statue's record as the tallest of an American hero is bragged about by
